Low Voltage Security System Engineer


We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Low Voltage / Security Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and commission integrated building technology systems across commercial and institutional projects. This role requires both technical design capability and practical field execution.


Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy IP/SIP-based telephony systems (e.g., Grandstream, E-MetroTel or equivalent)

• Configure and install access control systems (e.g., Kantech, CDVI, Schlage, ICT, Hartmann or similar platforms)

• Design and implement surveillance systems (e.g., Axis, Hanwha, Bosch)

• Support deployment of nurse call systems (asset, not mandatory)

• Develop system designs and layouts using AutoCAD

• Prepare accurate bills of materials (BoM) and coordinate with vendors for solution development

• Configure and support network infrastructure for security and communication systems (IP addressing, VLANs, device provisioning)

• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and full commissioning

• Support install team remotely and on site whenever needed. 


Requirements

• Proven experience in low-voltage and security system design and installation

• Strong understanding of IP-based systems and networking fundamentals

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects

• Hands-on capability to move between design work and field execution

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal teams


Work Arrangement

• Primarily remote/work-from-home based in the GTA area

• Regular site visits required during installation and commissioning phases

• Hands-on on-site work is expected during deployments and system testing

• Some travel to project sites may be required depending on project location

• Ownership of projects from design through to commissioning

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering reliable systems

• Practical mindset focused on real-world functionality, not just design theory

As PCS expands across Ontario, we’re looking for an experienced Electrician or Senior Low Voltage Technician to join our team in Toronto.  This is a hands-on role with leadership potential — the right candidate will grow into a Foreman position, becoming a key part of PCS’s Ontario expansion plan.


What You’ll Do

✅ Install, terminate, and test voice/data, Nurse Call, CCTV, access control, and intercom systems

✅ Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications

✅ Troubleshoot and maintain low-voltage cabling (Cat6/Cat6A, fiber)

✅ Work closely with project managers, contractors, engineers,  and clients

✅ Provide on-site technical leadership and mentor junior technicians

✅ Ensure installations meet PCS standards of safety and quality


Your Qualifications

🔹 Licensed Electrician or equivalent low-voltage systems experience

🔹 Proficiency with structured cabling and system integration

🔹 Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

🔹 Ability to work independently or lead small teams

🔹 Experience with telecom, security, or life-safety systems (an asset)
